Ian Martyn - “Baby Bowser’s Recorder Quartet” (Yoshi’s Story)

from Tribute Album 64 by Patient Corgi

/

about

“Inspired by my experience recording bass recorder for John Robert Matz’s ‘All the Earth’ track on Materia Collective’s Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture arrange album, Pattern, I decided to try my hand at writing my own recorder quartet. I purposefully try to break some of the ‘standard’ composition rules here (Baby Bowser is a baby, after all), so hopefully the dissonance is disconcerting yet contextual. I had the pleasure of playing this track on a set of Dulcet Scholar recorders that has been in my family for many decades.”
