“I remember when my best friend got his N64 he only had two games with it; Super Mario 64, and Pilotwings 64. I think the first memory I have of playing on an N64 is skydiving in Pilotwings. I remember failing terribly, but loving listening to all the music the game had. Years later, I rediscovered the soundtrack. It’s synth/pop/funk drew me in instantly, and Birdman was the hidden gold within. Arranging it for this project was difficult, I wanted to keep it similar to the original, but not an exact replica of course. After trying many different routes, I landed on the relaxed, rainy day with candles and lots of champagne vibe. It was a massive exercise for me in arranging and mixing the instrumentation, but I’m very happy with how it turned out.”
