“The idea behind this arrangement is based on an image I had in my head after analyzing and transcribing this piece. The original song goes so many different places so abruptly and rapidly, it had me imagining a listener walking down a hallway in the back of a venue and passing by a litany of different acts rehearsing—catching only snippets. I tried to enhance that idea in the performance by keeping everything a little loose and organic. Ultimately I wanted the odd nature and drastic corner turns of the original to reign supreme, so I added in the extra section at the end which quotes a classic instrumental from the Golden Era. Catch it?”
