“When I was younger, I used to ride my bike to the local game store to play the original Killer Instinct arcade cabinet about 3-4 times a week. It provided some of my earliest memories of being ‘moved’ by video game music that I can remember. As good as the ‘Intro Theme’ was, for me it was the ‘Select Screen’ music that really set the tone for the game. I literally used to choose my character and wait until time expired JUST to hear that loop play as long as possible. My 3 favorite characters were TJ Combo, Orchid, and Sabrewulf. I knew I wanted to pick another theme to arrange alongside Select Screen, and Sabrewulf’s Theme was the best choice to match the dark, brooding tone set by the Select Screen music.”
